Karén Khachaturov
Karen Khachaturov's pop surrealistic works revolve mainly around one topic – the new digital world and its reflection on people.
The environment he crates is pointing out the modern sense of loneliness, alienation and loss of empirical experience. Most of his heroes are faceless. These half-object, half-humans fell under the wave of hyper consumption and have this injected, objectifying view on everything, including themselves.
The consumerist visual approach is a trap, which Khachaturov uses in order to involve viewers in such topics, which would initially disgust them. This is an attempt to show issues, damages of people without layering those with unnecessary dramatic cliches. Visually his works are light, funny, witty, but they have other layers, which can be seen only if one takes a step towards them and open up.
